My Approach

Many are concerned that engaging in counselling has to be “hard work” and that you have to revisit childhood experiences and trauma in order to engage in therapy. While such experiences may be touched on at some point in the process, it is not absolutely necessary to revisit the past in order to find peace and happiness in your present life. It is up to each person, the situation that they are in and their preferred method of therapy that determines the therapeutic content.

I take a genuine interest in each client, and like to listen and communicate in a way that is supportive and safe. Establishing a therapeutic relationship that is free of judgement is essential to our work together, so that talking about difficult or sensitive issues can be done as openly and honestly as possible.

Some of my interest areas in working with clients are trauma, anxiety, spirituality and spiritual exploration, finding purpose and meaning in life, relationship issues and sexual health matters including exploring your sexuality. I am also aware of the impact that cultural backgrounds have and I have an interest in supporting clients who experience problems relating to culture which may impact their wellbeing, work, family or social life.

Assisting my clients to discover their strengths and values is a privilege. Flexibility in my approach to counselling supports clients of all ages, genders and backgrounds to participate in the counselling process and reach their individual potential to life a happier life.
